Scotland bans right-handed drinking - News Out There Sept 09 (1)September '09 Newsletter (1) Hello to everyone Out There I hope your summer was as chilled (laid-back) as mine was: 'To snark' - article that explains what snarking is and how to do it (advanced) 'Communites and the power of crowdsourcing' - recorded presentation by Jason on Youtube Free online class called 'Introduction to teaching English Out There' EOT Facebook page tops 500 members - summer photos Welcome to all of the ELTECS teachers who signed up recently Scotland bans right-handed drinking, shock! To snark or not to snark, that is the question? Snide and nasty comments in the media can damage peoples' reputations and they are becoming more common as new media takes over the world, here's an Observer article all about it:: The E Teachers Conference organised by Kirsten Winkler and hosted by Wiziq.com had its second session and I was very kindly invited to speak. I was in some decent company with the founders of Italki.com, Busuu.com and one of the main guys at Wiziq.com also giving presentations. It was all recorded and the video of my presentation is here (someone said they got goose-bumps at one point..must have left the window open!): The online odyssey continues and anyone who wants to say hi to me in real time and listen to me give an introduction to teaching English Out There online can come to a free class with Q&A that I am doing here next Monday and Tuesday on two different platforms. Everyone is welcome, it'll last about an hour: Monday 7th Sept: Tuesday 8th Sept: Our Facebook group has gone past the 500 mark in terms of members! Yee-ha and we have images form the London EOT summer school on there now (thanks Steve and Sheree!) but there is now a fan page for the first social media English coursebook - EOT Intermediate TD4 - do go there, sign up and tell your mates we need more fans on there. A huge WELCOME to all of the ELTECS members form the British Council online info service....200 of you signed up in the last week and a bit....give those lesson plans a go and let us know what you think? If you haven't already signed up go here and you can get your hands on some of our materials: You now cannot drink with your right hand in Scotland, it has been banned. If you are caught drinking with any hand other than your left hand you will receive a BASBO (Boozing Anti Social Behaviour Order) and be asked to down your pint in one and go home from the pub immediately: Until next time... Cheers Jason |
